Pamela Harr

Pamela Harr grew up on an Oregon ranch and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in General Science with a minor in Microbiology.

She later attended the graduate program at U of Iowa and received a degree in Physical Therapy. After her husband Gerry Harr was killed in Viet Nam in 1971 she turned to bronze sculpture out of an interest that grew from her work with handicapped children. Her unique insight into the world of children lead her to portray them in western pioneer and whimsical themes.

Her broad span of subject matter ranges from carrousel horses, dinosaur and mammal skulls, dogs and other domestic animals to religious and western themes. In 1981 she was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, Ft. Worth, TX for her research and portrayal of pioneer women.

Pamela created a life-sized sculpture titled "Taps" depicting a lone soldier blowing a bugle. It was placed in the northeastern Montana Veterans Memorial Park in Ft. Peck. She also created a full sized bronze flag draped casket for the same memorial.

Pamela resides on her ranch in Glendive, MT where they raised 6 children. Her sculptor husband of 38 years, Harvey Rattey, passed away December 7, 2015. Since that time she has authored a book about her husband's struggle with Alzheimers and created four additional larger than life-sized sculptures for her home town.

She gives seminars and writes articles for art marketing and historical publications and is active as a fund raiser on the Glendive Medical Foundation Board of Directors since 1997. She is a member of Community Bible Church.

In 1993 their business, Bridger Bronze, won the US Chamber of Commerce Blue Chip Award for excellence in business practices. Her award winning work can be found in many countries and prestigious private collections and museums including Augustana's Center for Western Studies Liturgical Center, Sioux Falls, SD and Mary Hill Museum of Art, Goldendale, WA.

She owns Bridger Bronze where she creates, finishes and direct markets both her's and Harvey's limited edition bronze sculptures: "Where the Pavement Ends & the West Begins."
