My love for photography began in 4-H with my dad's 35mm 1/2 frame camera when I was nine years old. I have been 'seeing' my surroundings through a camera lens ever since. Most of my photographs show the landscapes and scenery of Eastern Montana where I was raised on the family ranch and where my husband and I are currently making our home.
Over the last 20 plus years, I have explored photography through many avenues, including working for portrait photographers, professional portrait labs in Wyoming and eventually opening a portrait studio in Miles City, Montana. I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge in the mechanics of image making during this time. However, my love of the ranching lifestyle never wavered and when the opportunity came to return to that life I packed up my camera and delved in with both feet! the inspiration for my renewed interest in landscapes came when my husband and I went to work for a ranch located in the middle of the Terry Badlands. There's no way you can leave your camera home when experiencing this wonderland!
Now, when I'm out riding, feeding cattle, fencing or participating in any of the activities on the ranch, i find myself constantly snapping photographs in my mind, thinking "How lucky are we to live this life and this moment and be able to experience it every day of the normalcy of our lives."
This is what I want to share with you... the beauty, the wonder, the uniqueness of life in Montana, my home.
