Erin Thormodsgard is a born and raised Miles Citian. She is married to Dan Thormodsgard and they have two sons, Quinn and Luke. She owns and operates Girl Ran Away With the Spoon.
Education
She acquired her BFA in Graphic Design and MSU Bozeman and moved back to Miles City after graduation.
Medium/Media
Erin's passions lie in reconstructing old things and breathing new life into them. The basis of Girl Ran Away With the Spoon is hand crafted jewelry made from up-cycled flatware and has recently branched out into large-scale assemblage metal sculpture.
Artist Statement
I am always gathering, collecting and acquiring objects. I enjoy the challenge of pushing the boundaries of everyday mundane objects and taking them for their shape, their texture and their color rather than their function. Taking these seemingly ordinary objects and composing them into something completely new brings an immense amount of satisfaction and I am often surprised by the end result. They seem to orchestrate themselves. I thrive on the challenge of pushing my welding and fabricating skills as these sculptures and art pieces come to life.
