Carolyn Zimmerman
Carolyn Zimmerman studied art at Montana State University where she got her degree in English. As her children got older she revived her interest in art by taking workshops. Besides area workshops, she has also studied under Tom Browning of Oregon, Jim Wilcox of Wyoming and Robert Duncan of Utah. renowned Montana artists, Elliot Eaton and Carolyn Anderson have recently bee added to her list of inspiring workshops. She was able to travel to Italy in 2000 to absorb hundreds of years of artistic inspiration.
Carolyn has had numerous solo and group shows in the region, participating injuries and miniature exhibits as well. She has received Merit Awards at the MonDak in Sidney, and has placed in the People’s Choice Award at the Custer County Art Auction Exhibit several times, winning that award in1997. Carolyn has taught workshops for children in various media including watercolor, clay, pastel and has enjoyed substitute teaching art in the junior high and high school. In the fall os 2002 she and a friend started a business called Just Faux Fun, which specializes in mural, paint finishes and other aspects of decorating one’s environment.
“Art can touch one‘s soul or their whimsy, and all of the elements of style are a bonus,” says Carolyn. Sometimes glimpsing the past, often touching the tenderness of human emotion, and celebrating the beauty of Eastern Montana, carolyn often works in oil, but sometimes in acrylic, watercolor, watercolor batik, pastel, photography and she recently added encaustic (was, pigment and heat) to her methods.
Carolyn has had solo shows in Sidney, Glendive and Miles City and is represented in area galleries during various group shows and at the Woolhouse Gallery in Miles City and at the SW Corner Gallery near Dallas, TX.
